Welcome to govCMS

The Essential Environmental Measures program aims to improve our capacity to track trends in the state of Australia's environment. The program brings experts together to:

  • identify measures that are essential for tracking change in the state of our environment and
  • improve the availability of measure-related data

Over time, it is anticipated that information provided through the program will become a core component of the evidence used to inform national state of the environment reporting and environmental-economic accounting. Providing ready access to current time series data will progressively improve the capacity for delivering more frequent environmental reporting products. Following the release of Australia State of the Environment (SoE) 2016, the Australian Government is now exploring how it can capitalise on the potential of the SoE digital platform to make more data available more frequently, ahead of the next 5 yearly report.
